How to get best Dell 1691P battery for preserving longer life

Question: own a Dell Dell 1691P battery its less than a year old it has never given me any problem, but since last week windows says the battery is not present the weird thing is that the battery still works. The problem is that now it won’t tell me that the battery charged or soon to be out of power.
