With my HP nc6110 battery question?

Question:My HP nc6110 battery doesn't last an hour(sometimes 30 mins) without plugging it with my adapter. What could be the problem, and what can I do? ps: if i am to change batteries, will mine require one from my laptop's manufacturer? I should to do for it ? thanks a lot !
