Why my Dell 1691P battery power goes off

Question:My Dell 1691P battery is charging, and everything seems fine until i unplug the laptop from ac power. it then goes off, like the battery is not even there!but the battery is charged and it shows it charging.can i fix it. Answer:The battery cells are shorted, so the battery shows voltage, but doesn't hold a charge. Buy a new battery and your problem is solved.
